Summer Fishing Report

After a very slow start to the season we are now starting to see a few fish.

We have had good reports of plenty of bait congregating off Mooloolaba between the 8 mile ane 21 mile grounds.

The water temperature is also coming up, with 24 degrees finally reached and continuing to rise.

A few small blacks and sails have been tagged of Mooloolaba but are scattered all over the ocean.

The good news is that boats are seeing 1 -3 blue marlin on most heavy tackle trips, so this may be the way to go.

Unfortunately our FADs are disappearing at an alarming rate due to abuse, and we may be forced to remove them and redeploy them in different areas for club members only. The main problems are boats tying up to the FADS and also fishing to close and allowing fish to run around the fad and cut the rope. This is easier that you think and was proven with one of the lost fads washing up and showing multiple cuts and tangled line doing the damage.

Please keep your distance from the FAD's, fish work a wide area around the FAD and fish can be caught for 100's of meters around. We would suggest a 100m exclusion zone.

Remember once they are gone they will not be replaced.
